16. Simona Amanar - 2000 Olympics - Event Finals
This not a perfect vault, but this is the first two and a half twisting Yurchenko to be performed in Olympic history. Simona had no idea that adding a half twist to an already difficult vault would, years later, make this the vault people need in order to win. In Barcelona, the full twisting Yurchenko was the standard vault. In Atlanta it was the one and a half. In Sydney, it was the double twist. Now, it’s the two and a half. Part of me is hoping that the day never comes where you need a triple twisting Yurchenko to win, because that just seems impossible.
